Dr. Suhail Ahmad Receives
2006 Haviland Award

SEATTLE -- Dr. Suhail Ahmad has
been selected as the 2006 recipient of the James W. Haviland
Award for Outstanding Achievement in Nephrology. The Board
of Trustees of the Northwest Kidney Centers selected Dr.
Ahmad as the 2006 recipient of the Haviland Award because
of his outstanding expertise and contributions in patient
care, education and research as well as his personal qualities
of leadership, wisdom, commitment and sincere care for patients
with kidney disease.
Each recipient of the Haviland
Award has added a new dimension to the spirit in which the
award is given. Dr. Ahmad is joining an esteemed group of
honorees: Drs. Haviland, Eschbach, Scribner, Marchioro,
Hickman, Blagg, Boen, Tenckhoff, Sherrard, Fleet and Friedman.
The Haviland Award was established
by the Northwest Kidney Centers in 1990 to honor physicians
who have made significant contributions in renal research
or the treatment of kidney disease. The award bears the
name of Dr. James W. Haviland, who is considered the father
of the world’s first dialysis treatment center, the
Seattle Artificial Kidney Center, established in 1962, known
today as the Northwest Kidney Centers.
